BIDEX standard becomes part of DiBike
Frankfurt am Main, 26.06.25 | At the current Eurobike in Frankfurt am Main, BIDEX and DiBike today announced the next step towards better digitalization of the bicycle industry. Accordingly, with the signing today of an agreement in principle between Lars Röttger (Bidex), Nick Becker (DiBike), Burkhard Stork (ZIV - Die Fahrradindustrie) and Uwe Wöll (VSF), Bidex GmbH has entered into negotiations with DiBike as a limited partner. The industry associations ZIV and VSF recently founded DiBike in order to further develop and bundle digital industry standards in a joint company, including the Veloconnect standard.

The BIDEX product group key is an established product group and product data standard. It forms the basis for efficient cooperation between retailers and manufacturers in the industry. "With this Eurobike, we are sending a clear and open signal for common data standards throughout the industry," says Nick Becker, Managing Director of DiBike. "We are thus driving forward the digitalization of the bike business to the maximum. Nothing will change for current BIDEX customers, who will also have the security of knowing that the standard is future-proof," emphasizes Lars Röttger, Managing Director of BIDEX GmbH. With the inclusion of the BIDEX standard in DiBike, the joint further development and safeguarding in the interests of the entire bicycle industry is justified.

VSF and ZIV join forces for the digitalization of the bicycle industry
Marburg/Berlin. On 15 May 2025, Verbund Service und Fahrrad (VSF) and ZIV - Die Fahrradindustrie founded DiBike Digitize Bike Business Group GmbH & Co. KG was founded. The new company will operate under the abbreviation "DiBike" in future - with the express aim of strategically advancing and structurally strengthening the digitization of the bicycle industry.

Both associations have equal shares in the complementary limited liability company that manages the new company. The name was deliberately chosen: DiBike stands for the consistent digitization of the bicycle business. The business will be managed by the previous project manager, Nick Becker. “With the new company, we are taking on exciting and complex challenges. Above all, however, this now opens up the opportunity to jointly create a digital infrastructure that will truly benefit everyone in the bike business. DiBike is the right platform at the right time,” says Becker enthusiastically.
“Veloconnect was a significant milestone. But digitization doesn't end with a successful interface; that's where it really begins. With DiBike, we are taking the first step on the way to a new level. Technically sound, practical, future-proof, and widely accepted by the entire industry,” says Uwe Wöll, managing director of the VSF.
Accordingly, the chosen legal form of GmbH & Co. KG is no coincidence. It specifically opens up the possibility of structurally integrating additional stakeholders- such as other associations, dealer and supplier groups, and platforms from Germany and the European Union that want to work with VSF and ZIV on the digital future of the industry. The same applies to sponsors or interested supporters from the market. One of DiBike's central tasks is the further development and safeguarding of the Veloconnect standard, which has already established itself as a digital interface between industry and trade. Currently, more than 25 specific bicycle-related merchandise management systems and around 120 suppliers offer an interface to Veloconnect. In addition, the system is already largely compatible with European standards – an important starting point for the planned internationalization.
“The bicycle industry is internationally networked. With DiBike, we are now creating the opportunity to establish a European standard that is also globally compatible. A central platform is being created to develop practical solutions for the entire industry,” adds Burkhard Stork, Managing Director of ZIV.
In addition to the interface issue, DiBike is also addressing other pressing digitalization issues from practice. These include the optimization of merchandise management systems, the integration of digital processes for leasing and insurance solutions, and the development of practical approaches to recall management and the fulfillment of digital information obligations. The aim is to network existing systems more efficiently and to noticeably improve operational processes for all market participants.
In addition, the focus is on the implementation of regulatory requirements – for example, in connection with the Supply Chain Act, the digital product and battery passport, or the EU regulation on deforestation-free supply chains. This range of services is complemented by the coordination of joint industry approaches in the digital space around the industry's digital ecosystem, which is aimed equally at dealers, manufacturers, service providers, and platforms.
